The AD brand (ATELIER DONÁT) longs to draw everyone into its universe of original, designer-made garments created from high-quality textiles. Many of the fabrics are designed by fashion designer Ilona Donátová herself, ensuring unquestionable exclusivity for customers, and every piece is produced within the EU. True originality and uniqueness stem above all from the high proportion of hand-work—including appliqués and colourful embellishments crafted by designer Romana Krejčí. The AD label has been on the market for a quarter of a century.
How to describe Atelier Donát’s fashion? Creative, playful, optimistic—and impossible to pigeonhole. Its designer refuses convention and rejects being boxed into conformity. Evidently the brand has many devoted fans: the atelier has been operating for almost three decades and is renowned for its creative approach, cleverly blending varied cuts, colours and original motifs, even pairing seemingly incompatible materials such as woven fabric with knit, or coarse knit with lace. AD also offers a broad range of styles in natural fibres like cotton, linen and viscose.
AD models are sold in proprietary boutiques—28 years in Poděbrady and 20 years in Prague—as well as in selected shops and studios throughout the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany and Austria.

A Few Things You May Not Know about Atelier Donát
The creative soul of the atelier is a pair of sisters for whom fashion is not only a profession but also a hobby and a mission. Ilona Donátová, a graduate of the Technical University of Liberec’s textile faculty, designs the fabrics from which the garments are later patterned. Romana Krejčí conceives and executes textile appliqués and colour compositions—usually by hand—that make each model one-of-a-kind. Their undeniable talent is matched by tireless perseverance; they always pursue their own fashion vision undeterred by their surroundings. Their designs radiate an understanding of women—they say they design for women who are similar to them in spirit. Judging by their ever-growing clientele, they have indeed found a formula for the female soul.
SUMMER SEASON AT AD – Linen Fabrics: Nostalgia & Modern Eco Trend
Follow nature, your feelings and a love of art.
For several summer collections now, the main thread has been love and responsibility toward nature. The collections are designed predominantly in linen, a fabric that feels pleasant, breathes, and is ideal for people with allergies or skin problems. “Summer in linen” ensures comfort and ventilation. Choosing linen also benefits the planet: it is 100 % recyclable, so wearing it helps conserve nature. The linens used by Atelier Donát are finished to reduce wrinkling and have special treatments. Each bears a hallmark of uniqueness, adorned with 3-D appliqués—miniature artworks featuring motifs of flowers, insects, spiders’ webs and more. Every woman wearing them carries a small piece of art chosen by feeling. Each item conveys an ideological message. The designs offer comfort, originality and a touch of nature. WINTER SEASON AT AD – Coats & Trousers: The Flagship of Atelier Donát
For several winters the core theme has been coats and jackets in various lengths, from casual to elegant, featuring intriguing pattern solutions—sometimes simple, sometimes decorated with sculptural appliqués. Contrasting “incompatible” materials are combined so each enhances the other, giving coats an unexpected look. Some coats and jackets are embellished with hand techniques such as colourful burn-out printing that subtly—or provocatively—spices up dark bases. Blazers and coats lend an aura of uniqueness and suit literally any occasion. Beyond burn-out, techniques like pigment printing, washed effects and camouflage are used. Matching trousers accompany the jackets. The collection is rounded out with numerous knit pieces—blouses, sweaters, tunics and autumn dresses.
